Tell Me a Story

Dear Parents,
It is fun to discover new stories and to meet new characters, but old favorites will always be special. Over the next few weeks your child will be listening to and reading fun-filled stories and favorite fairytales in our new Unit of Inquiry: Fairytales/Nursery Rhymes.
We will read three treasured tales that have been enjoyed by many generations. Take time during the next few weeks to share in your child’s enthusiasm for these stories, and have him or her tell you a story! Mother Goose Time- Your child will learn several fun nursery rhymes, we will send home a special copy of popular poems and rhymes soon , so you can practice learn and share together your personal favorites. Have fun!!
Central Idea:
We learn skills by listening to, acting out and telling fairy tales and traditional stories. Stories give us pleasure and teach us lessons.
Inquiry Into:
• Ways we share stories.
• How stories can help us learn good behavior and “life lessons”.
• Acting out stories with movement and plays to discover how ideas are expressed.
• Sequencing stories.

The Giving Tree

We have our own special tree! We know that trees need water, sun, soil and plenty of space to grow. After reading the book: "The Giving Tree" written and illustrated by Shel Silverstein, we realized that trees are also our friends, and we need to give our tree a lot of love and care. We share and take turns with watering our tree every Tuesday morning.
